We are thrilled Newport High School, Newport High School Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Barney Blough, has been selected to participate in the 2025 American String Teachers Association (ASTA) National Orchestra Festival (NOF). An invitation to participate is a distinguished honor, showcasing the excellent music program at the school. NOF invites ensembles of the highest caliber to perform and compete for national recognition.
To be selected, the orchestra participated in a highly competitive adjudicated process. Ensembles from across the country submitted performance entries through a blind, peer-review process to earn an invitation. Held annually with the ASTA National Conference, NOF ensembles perform for a live audience and highly respected, nationally known adjudicators. Each group receives a unique workshop with renowned clinicians to bolster the learning experience for the students and director alike.
Along with participating in NOF, the ensemble can immerse in all the National Conference has to offer, including sessions, master classes (your students may apply for the opportunity to perform!), concerts, exhibits, and networking.
