Where Live Music Meets Living Movement

Ballet Knights is Newport Orchestra’s signature celebration of collaboration, artistry, and community—an inspiring partnership between our student musicians and the world of professional ballet. This year’s production marks an exciting new chapter as we join forces with Washington State Ballet Theater, led by co-Artistic Directors Maximilliano Guerra and Myriam Barroso.
For years, Newport Orchestra has partnered with Evergreen City Ballet on beloved productions such as Dreams and Diversions, Hansel and Gretel, and Coppélia. These collaborations have given our musicians invaluable real‑world experience performing in a true pit orchestra—responding to dancers, shaping tempo in real time, and creating the living musical energy that recorded tracks can never replicate. At the same time, dancers experience the thrill of performing with a live orchestra, reacting to the nuance, breath, and emotion of music that is created fresh each night.
This season brings something beautifully new. Washington State Ballet Theater opened the doors to their brand‑new studio in May, and our own Achille Quartet performed at the ribbon‑cutting ceremony—a moment that symbolized the beginning of a vibrant artistic partnership.

We aren’t able to announce the full program just yet—but creative minds are hard at work crafting something truly special for our Newport community. Expect beauty, surprise, and artistry in motion.
