Knights in Vienna, a night of waltz music and dancing at our annual fundraiser! Knights in Vienna features live music by the Newport orchestra and dance instruction with Dean Paton. In addition, there will be plenty of fabulous food and gourmet desserts to enjoy! All of the money raised at Knights in Vienna goes to support SONO (Supporters of Newport Orchestra) and the Newport Orchestra program for things like sectional coaching, financial assistance for trips, and instrument maintenance.

SONO (Supporters of Newport Orchestra) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to help the Newport Orchestra program through fundraisers and volunteer participation. Every year, SONO provides funding for sectional coaching, chamber music coaching, festival entrance fees, dinner for students before concerts, the snacks during the festival, the annual music department picnic, and financial assistance so that all orchestra students can attend the special events such as trips and the annual orchestra retreat. Knights in Vienna is our main fundraiser to sustain SONO so that they can continue to provide this level of support. The best way for you to help support the Newport Orchestra program is to buy a ticket and come to Knights in Vienna and dance the night away!

You can support by doing one or more of the following:

1. Buy tickets and attend Knights in Vienna as guests (and inviting your friends and family too).
2. Donate time** and volunteer to help before, during and/or at the end of event.
3. Donate money**.

     • Give the check to Orchestra Director Barney Blough.
4. Donate desserts. If your students make them, they can also earn community service hours for the time spent.
