Special Events at Newport Orchestra
Orchestra Retreat
Escape to Lazy F Ranch for a transformative weekend of music, friendship, and connection. From October 9–11, students will unplug in a quiet, remote setting where shared meals, late‑night conversations, and focused sectionals with college musicians create a powerful sense of community. Retreat is where the orchestra grows closer, plays with deeper purpose, and builds the camaraderie that carries through the entire year.
Knights in Vienna
Step into elegance at Newport Orchestra’s most beloved tradition. On Sunday, November 22, the Newport Ballroom transforms into a dazzling Viennese dance hall filled with live waltz music, professional instruction, and an evening of formal fun. From the Newport Philharmonic’s sweeping melodies to the joy of dancing with friends and family, Knights in Vienna is a celebration of community, artistry, and timeless charm.
Sphinx Virtuosi Residency
We are honored to welcome the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Virtuosi to Newport High School for a three‑day residency March 1–3, 2027. These exceptional artists will perform, teach, coach, and adjudicate, offering students a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the nation’s premier chamber ensembles. It’s an inspiring week of mentorship, musicianship, and world‑class performance.

A breathtaking fusion of live orchestra and classical ballet. Newport Orchestra and SONO proudly present Ballet Knights, a three‑day collaboration with the Washington State Ballet Theater, running April 23–25. Featuring WSBT’s ballerinas and Newport’s musicians performing together, Ballet Knights offers stunning choreography, beautiful music, and festive extras including auctions and raffles. Stay tuned for more information, as this is sure to be a highlight of the season.
