Senior Video Class of 2024

Newport High School Orchestra seniors from the graduating class of 2024 talk about their favorite moments in orchestra and share their plans for the future.

Coppelia by Evergreen City Ballet and Newport High School Orchestra

Newport High School Orchestra collaborated with Evergreen City Ballet to present a brand-new production of Coppélia, an enchanting, family ballet, perfect for young and old alike, where love triumphs over all in a comedy of mistaken identity. Coppelia featured live music performed by the Newport Philharmonic, conducted by Barney Blough, with dance performed by the Evergreen City Ballet, under the direction of Maximiliano Guerra and Myriam Barroso. This unique collaboration provided young musicians and dancers with the experience of working together on a live show, resulting in a wonderfully joyful performance that’s sure to enchant audiences of all ages. Coppélia was performed May 3-5, 2024, at the Newport Performing Arts Center.

Clinic with Jung Ho Pak

Newport Chamber Orchestra had our best clinic ever with Jung Ho Pak at the National Orchestra Festival in 2025. He talked about playing with joy and showing that to the audience. He also taught us to bow with respect after our performance, something that we still do to this day. Here is a video of our clinic with Jung Ho Pak at ASTA National Orchestra Festival in 2024.

Louisville

Chamber Orchestra’s trip to Louisville, Kentucky, for the ASTA National Orchestra Festival in March of 2024. Some of the highlights of the trip were a tour of Churchill Downs, an orchestra clinic with the Concertmaster of the Louisville Orchestra Gabe Lefkowitz, a visit to Farmington Plantation, and a special performance by the Sphinx Virtuosi.

Firebird Suite

Newport Chamber Orchestra combined with the Central Symphony for a special performance of the Firebird Suite at the WMEA Convention in Yakima, Washington, on February 18, 2024

Knights in Vienna

Knights in Vienna is our annual fundraiser that features a night of dancing to waltz music performed by the Newport Philharmonic. This year KIV was held on Saturday, February 3rd, and we welcomed Dean Paton to join us as our dance instructor.

UW Orchestra Festival

Newport Chamber Orchestra performs at the UW Orchestra Festival on February 8, 2024.

Eastshore Solo & Ensemble Playoffs

Newport Orchestra had an amazing 4 out of 6 total small ensembles selected to perform in the playoffs of the Eastshore Solo and Ensemble Contest at Si High School on January 27, 2024. Newport finished the day taking 1st and 3rd place in the Small String Ensemble Category.

Tyee and Newport combine to perform Curse of the Rosin Eating Zombies by Richard Meyer at the Newport Orchestra Fall Concert on October 24, 2023.
