Last-Minute Reminders
Here are some last-minute reminders from the Honor Group Staff for everyone participating in an All-State or All-Northwest Honor Ensemble:
- Please make sure you remember to bring everything you need! This includes:
- Your instrument and your music
- A pencil
- Any Accessories you might need (mutes, valve oil, reeds, mallets, rosin, endpin stops, extra strings, etc.)
- Percussionists: Only larger instruments will be provided (timpani, bass drum, mallet percussion, chimes). You must bring all sticks, mallets, beaters, and any small percussion items listed in your part (i.e., triangle, tambourine, clave, etc.), including snare drums and cymbals!
- Tuba players: please bring a concertTuba, no Sousaphones.
- Your concert attire – either your regular school ensemble concert attire OR “concert black,” with dark shoes and socks.
- Instrumentalists: Please bring a folding music stand!
- New this year: Students who arrive early are encouraged to attend a special session with conference headliner Scott Lang on Friday, February 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the Davenport Grand Hotel (333 W Spokane Falls Blvd, Spokane, WA 99201; across the street from the Convention Center). Chaperones must collect students at 10:45 a.m. at the end of the session and ensure they eat lunch before checking in for rehearsal.
- Check-in is on Friday, February 14, between noon and 12:45 p.m. at your assigned rehearsal location. See the All-Northwest and All-State Overview or your Accepted Students Information Packet for locations and directions. The rehearsal starts at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Once you are checked into rehearsal, your chaperones can leave until Friday’s rehearsals end. On Saturday, we will resume rehearsals at 9:00 a.m.
- There will be optional shuttle buses to take students to off-site rehearsal spaces (the All-NW Mixed Choir at Cataldo Hall, the All-NW Treble Choir at Bing Crosby Theater, and the All-NW Wind Symphony at Ruby River Hotel). Departure times are forthcoming.
- The Choir Shuttles will pick up outside the First Interstate Center for the Arts (FICA) on W. Spokane Falls Blvd. before rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, and will return students to the FICA after rehearsals.
- The Ruby River shuttle will pick up outside FICA before rehearsal on Friday and go back and forth once between Ruby River and FICA after rehearsal (so that any students staying overnight in Ruby River who are in other ensembles can get to that hotel). Similarly, on Saturday morning, the Ruby River shuttle will leave Ruby River to take students to FICA, where choral students can transfer to the Choir Shuttles, and Wind Symphony students can board to go to Ruby River.
- ALL students will be transported to the Convention Center/FICA before the concerts on Saturday. Chaperones and families can pick up their students after the concerts at FICA and SCC.
- The All-State concert, All-Northwest Choral Concert, and All-Northwest Instrumental Concert will all be on Saturday, February 15, at 4:30 p.m. in the Spokane Convention Center (334 W Spokane Falls Blvd, Spokane, WA 99201). Please see the All-Northwest and All-State Overview for the specific locations for each concert. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at All-Northwest and All-State Concert Tickets @ TicketsWest
- The All-Northwest Jazz Concert will be Friday, February 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the First Interstate Center for the Arts (FICA, same address as the convention center). This concert is free, with no tickets required.
- Please see the Accepted Students Information Packet for the complete rehearsal schedule.
