Achille Quartet Wins State Championship
The Achille Quartet won 1st place at the Washington State Solo and Ensemble contest on April 24, 2026, with their performance of the 1st movement of String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10 by Claude Debussy. The members of the Achille Quartet are Eide Tan on 1st violin, Elliott Pyon on 2nd violin, Selina Lai on viola, and Eli Paek on cello. Here is a video of their award-winning performance.
Third Place at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival
The Newport Chamber Orchestra won 3rd place at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival in Atlanta in March of 2025, Here is a video of their performance of A Girl Who Carries Water by Bao Yuankai, and Chinese composer who Newport students Leo Li and Urison Xiao corresponded with seeking permission to perform his piece at ASTA National Orchestra Festival.
Habari Gani by Quenton Blache with Sphinx Virtuosi
Newport Chamber Orchestra performed Habari Gani by Quenton Blache alongside the Sphinx Virtuosi as part of a three-day residency at Newport High School March 3-5, 2025. Later that month they performed it again on their own at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival, where they won 3rd place in the country.
2024 ASTA National Orchestra Festival in Louisville
The Newport Chamber Orchestra was selected to perform at the 2024 ASTA National Orchestra Festival in Louisville, Kentucky as one of the top 12 orchestras in the country. Here is a video of their performance of Danzas de Panama by William Grant Still on March 22, of 2024.
Firebird Suite at WMEA Convention
Newport Chamber Orchestra combined with the Central Symphony for a special performance of the Firebird Suite at the WMEA Convention in Yakima, Washington, on February 18, 2024

Tyee and Newport combine to perform Curse of the Rosin Eating Zombies by Richard Meyer at the Newport Orchestra Fall Concert on October 24, 2023.
